What Does It Mean to Be Your Own Daddy?

#BeYourOwnDaddy is a tag you'll see on some of our merch and in some of our posts. What does that mean exactly? What do you want it to mean?

If anything amazing has come from the COVID-19 pandemic, its the wide spread empowerment and self-love that swept across the nation as we all hunkered down and enjoyed (or tried to enjoy) some solitude. As restless as we got, as much as we got sick of ourselves, we also learned that internally we control a lot more of how we experience and control all of the uncontrollable things around us.

This new movement that it's okay to be who we are and care about ourselves a bit more is the driving force behind our #BeYourOwnDaddy tags.

What About the "Daddy" Stigma?

For as long as we can remember "Daddy" was a term that directly referenced an individual in a dominant position, or more recently a term for a significant other. As of late, new forms of the word have come to life through fandoms and other social mediums, leading to a little less negative stigma around the term daddy.

As much as the word can be a shock in a public space, the de-stigmatization of daddy is happening daily. Millions of social posts can be found referencing the term, clothes are printed daily with bright bold letters of exclamation, and people who were once timid to see the formerly taboo term are acknowledging that the meanings are shifting.

Start Being Your Own Daddy

Who else is in control of your life, besides you? Who cares more about you, than you? When was the last time you treated yourself? We all love a night out, but sometimes it feels good to take a step back and just take care of yourself. Trust me, I'm the king of staying home with a glass of wine and turning off the phone.

Take a step back every once in a while, it's easy to get yourself wrapped up in way to much and stretch yourself too thin. At the end of the day, you're at your best when you feel your best.

What's it hurt to splurge a bit on a good night in with a few things that make you feel good and reinforce that Daddy mentality. It's 2021, and it's time to take control of how we feel. Grab that glass of wine, that lavender bath bomb, your favorite candle, and your favorite Delta Daddy cartridge, hop in and take a minute to chill. *Electronics and bath water don't mix well, please be careful.*
